OMG! A Good Hair movie?

OMG!!
As many of you may have done, last Friday evening I went to view Tyler Perry's latest blockbuster, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself". I must mention that I enjoyed it immensely and cannot wait to purchase the DVD. However, a big chunk of my attention went to the previews, to be specific a preview of a very original documentary by none other than Chris Rock! It all stemmed from his young daughter questioning the texture of her hair? Why isn't it good?

For me this goodhair/bad hair business is really just bad business. If I had a dime for everytime someone would compliment me on my hair texture, but then go on to say "I couldnt have mines natural its a really nappy, or I don't have good hair like that." I swear by now I'd be rich. First and foremost I say there is NO such thing as "good" or "bad" hair. The good Lord made us with our hair the way he intended it to be.We are all different for a reason, and even though my ringlets of curls can seeming awing and beautiful, at times I can find them to be a down right frizzy uncontrollable, and undetanglable mess! There are some I've seen with tresses of a tighter curl pattern than mines, that I wouldn't mind having just because of the managability they have. But anyhow that's more detail that I will have to go into a little later.

I just cant wait to see Chris Rock divulge the reason why we have come to characterize African American hair in these simple minded terms of "good" and "bad". Is the only way for bad hair to become good is for one to burn or break its natural pattern into the European standard? That can't be right, when did we suddenly become of European descent? I hope Chris does a good job with this. From the looks of the preview he'll definitely be opening up some eyes and minds... I can't wait!
