Perceptions of Natural Hair - The Black Male Perspective

I realized I never really took the time to look at this issue around me. When I first did the big chop, I did find many guys to be even more appreciative of the look I had, but it didn't seem to be a big deal. In my day to day life now, I have noticed that I get far more compliments on my curly locs from my white counterparts as a whole (male and female), I feel this is mainly because they haven't been exposed to the "natural look" and that its something new and refreshing to them. At any rate, brothas that may approach me, never mention or compliment on the hair, my take on this is that, their main focus maybe elsewhere and that hair is not really an issue when they are interested in a female.I could be wrong, but maybe a few of the guys can weighin on this?

At this link, one viewer made a comment about how all the guys being interviewed were the "loc'd, spoken word, dirty backpack, types" that would obviously embrace that "look" or "movement" amongst black women, and that it didn't help that they were being interviewed by a woman. Ladies, natural, relaxed, transitioning and so forth, whats your take on this? Any experiences where hair has been a turning point, or one of interest for you or your mate? Hmmm...sounds like its time for a new voting topic....

Post your comments, I love to hear what your thoughts are on this one.
