Ad-hoc Curls, For the Thirfty Girl!

So I know how intimidating and confusing styling natural hair can seem. It also can become quite expensive if you get on that product junkie kick! But I digress.... I found a simple, braid-free, twist-free, heat- free style that you should be able to manage on your own, even with the smallest of skill levels. This style should last you about a week, with proper maintenance, and take you only 1-2 hours to complete.
It's T-shirt Curls!
Also known as rag curls, you  can use practically any type of old unwanted cloth material, cut it into strips and set it on your hair a you would any other roller.
You save money on buying rollers which can get pricey if you have a lot of thick hair like me. You also save yourself the headache of sleeping overnight in painful, uncomfortable rollers, rods, knots, or straws.
So, inspired by YouTuber KylesNaturalHair who did this still on a her locs, I set out to do my own t-shirt curl set.
What I used:
1 old CLEAN T-shirt
A pair of scissors
A spray bottle w/ water (you can substitute with you favorite leave-in
Denman brush
Lottabody Olive Oil Foaming Wrap Lotion
Hair clips
Prep:
Before starting my set, I pre-pooed with a coconut oil & conditioner mix for about an hour. Then I co-washed with my Goldwell Dual Senses for Color conditioner and did an ACV rinse.
I detangled with a wide tooth comb, after I applied Giovanni direct leave-in.
In large loose twists I let my hair air dry for about an hour and then it was time to get crackin!
Take your old T-shirt, towel, rag, etc. and follow the steps.
Steps:
1. Use hair clips to maintain separate sections.
2. This style should be fine on Dampened hair, NOT soaking Wet, just damp. If your starting on dry hair, just use the spray bottle to dampen.
3. Apply setting lotion to unclipped section of hair and detangle.
4. Take a smaller section, proportionate to your rag roller, and starting from the tip of the strand, roll the hair up.
When you get to the end of the hair strand, tie the ends of the "roller" into a single knot around the rolled hair.
5. Repeat, this process until the desired amount of hair is rolled.
6. You can sit under a dryer for half an hour, our just tie up your hair and let  it set over night.
7. In the morning, with a little oil on your hands untie the rollers and untwist the hair in a vertical motion.

Style as desired and rock it!
